Employment Contracts

The purpose of any employment contract is to provide a written statement of terms and conditions that governs the working relationship between an employer and their employee and, at its core, sets out the duties than an employer expects their employee to perform in exchange for an appropriate remuneration package together with other terms that are required to be present in accordance with the laws of England & Wales.

There is a gulf of difference between what is expected of a junior member of staff as compared to a senior member of staff and it is imperative that the correct contract type is selected to ensure that the working relationship is managed effectively, particularly, if that relationship were to breakdown.

Senior Employment Contracts

This template particularises the terms and conditions that are appropriate for a senior employee. As such, there is a focus on managerial and/or executive responsibilities. Principally, the more duties that are imposed on an employee and the more integral they become to an employer’s business operations, the more risk they carry. Consequently, a senior employee will usually receive a generous remuneration package for taking that risk. In addition, senior employees are likely to be more concerned with an employer’s customers and clients as well as their intellectual property and/or business sensitive information. It is, therefore, vital that an appropriate period of notice as well as proportionate post-termination restrictions are applied should their employment with the employer end.
