Into Film Screenings & Talks Across the UK Celebrate Women in Animation

The programme is part of Anim18, a UK-wide celebration of British Animation throughout 2018, principally led by Film Hub Wales, Chapter (Cardiff) and the BFI Film Audience Network, and made possible through National Lottery funding.

The programme aims to highlight the range of career opportunities within the animated film industry, including VFX supervisor; puppeteer; animator; artist; producer and director roles and will give a platform to women across these crafts to discuss their work and inspire young people to make the industry a more inclusive and equally representative one.

“At a time when we’re seeing important conversations and welcome change around equality in film, it’s brilliant that Into Film are celebrating the work of women in animation. It’s so important to inspire the next generation of diverse talent in animation, and give girls the message that they can take on creative roles and leadership roles, that they too can make excellent work that will be valued and recognised.”

Lauren Orme, Independent Animator/Director of Cardiff Animation Festival

Sixty screenings are taking place in locations across the UK, from Orkney to Portsmouth to Pwllheli with numerous acclaimed speakers taking part including Academy-Award winner Sara Bennett, Aardman Director Asa Lucander, Academy-Award nominated animator Daisy Jacobs, senior animation lecturer Dr Jemma Gilboy and multi-disciplinary artist Dominica Harrison.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Into Film.  Their Spring Screenings programme will reach young people nationally, spreading the word about British talent in animation and inspiring the next generation. It is the perfect moment to focus on Women in Animation, celebrating rights and opportunities alongside Vote100 and showcasing achievements as part of Anim18: A Celebration of British Animation.”
